The Edward Lear Foundation is a newly-established Disability Arts think-tank.

We have been set up to create new thinking in Disability Arts. In particular, we want to create thinking that is not led by the policy-making of arts funding bodies. We feel that Disability artists should play a key part in this process.

We also intend to create projects that will embody this thinking. Where possible, we shall find new funding sources for these, so that we do not take money away from existing Disability Arts work.

Our first key project is to start the process of preserving and archiving the past achievements of disability arts. We are working closely with Holton Lee in Dorset and with the National Disability Arts Forum on this.

We are currently carrying out a piece of research to discover what disability arts organisations are already doing in this area.  First responses indicate that the issue is widely felt to be important.
